Botanical Surveys & Vegetation Monitoring

Monardella viminea Monitoring, Mapping, and Habitat Enhancement

For three years, ACS Habitat Management biologists and crew members surveyed for and mapped populations of the federally endangered Monardella viminea. Biologists were accompanied by vegetation management crews who helped to clear non-native plants in the surrounding areas of each Monardella viminea plant. This work greatly enhanced not only the information regarding these important plant populations, but also helped to enhance their health and habitat status.

Non-Native Plant Mapping and Weed Management Plan

Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada (NAS Fallon) contains nearly 2,600 acres of leased agricultural land surrounding the main airfield and installation. ACS biologists were tasked with developing a comprehensive weed management plan for these areas. The effort began with a wide scale on the ground mapping effort for the whole of these nearly 2,600 acres.
