Aegilops triuncialis Monitoring and Eradication
In the mid-2000s, a small population of Aegilops triuncialis was found on Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach (NWSSB), Detachment Fallbrook. This species of non-native invasive annual grass had seemingly jumped multiple counties in Central California and was surprisingly discovered in North San Diego County. ACS was quickly asked to help in the eradication and monitoring program for this species. The program was a complete success as no instances of Aegilops triuncialis have been discovered again at NWSSB Detachment Fallbrook since 2013.
